Perfectstroke Ball Marker

The Perfectstroke Golf Green Reading System is the most accurate method currently available using an angle methodology to determine the line for putts on combination slopes.  After referring to our proprietary charts players use the Perfectstroke Ball Markers to then aim at an appropriate angle for any length putt on a variety of green speeds with varied slope types and amounts. There is no need to pace out or estimate the length of a putt or amount of aim in inches or millimetres.

Players can either take a simplistic approach to green reading and aiming based on basic inputs or they can be very accurate by referencing our charts and learning to estimate slope amounts.

The Perfecstroke Green Reading System can be learnt in green reading classes delivered by local authorised instructors following our program.

The Perfectstroke Green Reading System utilises one main chart and two other available charts enabling players to use the reference material and our ball markers to gradually learn how to use the system firstly in training and social play, secondly in competition play at almost all levels and then finally for tour professionals and elite amateurs to use in major competitions. The PGA Tour, DP World Tour and major championships are bound by Model Local Rules impositions however one of our ball markers is able to be used in those events.

When we begin our green reading classes players are asked to warm up on the practice putting green in order to gain a feel for the green speed and then they play a nine hole circuit in order to define a baseline score. After that we do a short PowerPoint presentation to explain how the Perfectstroke Ball Markers and green reading charts work and then it’s back out on to the putting green to put the theory in to practice. Player’s learn about slope percentages and how to measure, feel and see different slopes in order to be able to use the various charts. We use a number of other training aids including our Perfectstroke Green Pro Mirror which can help define “Play’s Like” lines.

In our green reading courses players will firstly be taught how to identify the green speed either with a Stimp meter type measurement or by practically hitting putts. We need to identify the speed of the green relating to either MEDIUM, FAST or TOUR FAST they then choose the one marker for use on that day for either practice or social play.

A MEDIUM green speed relates to 8-9 Stimp, FAST is rated a 10-11 and TOUR FAST is rated as 12-13 on a Stimp measurement.

The Perfectstroke Ball Markers and Green Reading System come as a set of three markers which are suitable for Medium Green Speeds- (8-9 Stimp), Fast Greens (10-11 Stimp) and Tour Fast Greens (12-13 Stimp). They also come with a marker that only has one line that is legal for play in all competitions including those under Model Local Rule stipulations for professional tournaments.

The Perfectstroke Green Reading System can be extremely accurate with the use of measuring tools such as a Stimp meter and digital spirit level or can be used on an educated guess basis where the player through their training is able to come up with a reasonably accurate estimation of sideslope and downslope amounts.

Once a player has estimated both the side slope and down slope they can refer to a chart which indicates where to aim as a plays like slope percentage. In other words if the green speed for the day was 10 and the player estimated or measured the side slope as 2.5% as an average over the length of the putt, with a downslope amount of 1.5%, the plays like aim would be 3.4. This can be verified using the Science and Motion Sports Ball Tracking and Projection technology which would also suggest that the ideal aim would be 11.9 degrees from the centre of the hole.

By using one of our ball markers designated for use on Fast Greens 10-11 Stimp, they would then align their ball between the 3 and 4 dot indication on the marker. The ball marker also has a centred line which is aimed at the middle of the hole on every combination breaking putt. This method provides the most accurate estimation of the aim for a putt given the various inputs and is valid for any length of putt with these characteristics. There is no need to know the length of a putt or where to aim in inches/mm relative to the hole.

.The Perfectstroke Green Reading System can also be taught on the Perfectstroke Putting Platform which includes a projection system enabling putts to be hit from 5 different pre programmed lengths which includes aim and curvature lines for different slope putts from 1.0% through to 3.5%.

If you have between 6 and 8 players wanting to participate on a particular date please ask us to schedule an event for you….

We offer full and half day Putting and Green Reading Classes with the full day program also including putting technique analysis. The full day Green Reading events start at Golf 24 Southport where players will firstly have their putting strokes recorded on video, secondly have their putting strokes on straight and breaking putts measured and analysed and then appropriate training techniques will be suggested for each player. Players will also have the opportunity to participate in pitching and chipping training using TrackMan 4 in our hitting bays at Golf24.

Later in the morning Perfectstroke Head Professional Mark Officer will explain Green Reading techniques and apparatus that enables the use of the Perfectstroke Ball Markers and Green Reading Charts in theory.  Participants will then travel to Lakelands Golf Club  for lunch and practical instruction on a putting green using the green reading techniques.

In the half day program the focus is solely on green reading so the instruction is conducted at Lakelands Golf Club from 1.00pm to 4.00pm.

Each program  includes the Perfectstroke Ball Markers and Green Reading Charts.

Cost to attend the full day program is $325 per person and the half day green reading only is $175.00.
